Whoa, spoken like a true man. You are a mess. I can't believe you said that ex's number part. *shaking my head* I see what you're saying though about giving something up when you come into a marriage, but keep in mind that that's something a woman has to give up personally. The ex's numbers won't work because just like the guy has ex-girlfriends, the woman does too. Just like the guy has an apartment, the woman does too. The last name is really the only thing that a woman has to hold on to and the guy never has to give his up.
I definitely do understand not giving up a last name for someone who has bad credit. When you marry a person who doesn't have their finances together, you inherit their debt. I'm opposed to that altogether. I think they should get that situation worked out FIRST before even getting married.
As far as not liking the last name, well, if a guy didn't like his first name all his life, he could legally change it when he turns 18 so why can't a woman keep her legal name too?
